Alone in the Wilderness is the documentry of Richard Proenneke, the subject of the book One Man's Wilderness: an Alaskan Odyssey . Richard Proenneke built his own cabin in the wilderness near Twin Lakes, in what is now Lake Clark National Park & Preserve.
Richard Proenneke lived the dream of building a cabin in the Alaskan wilderness, and stayed to become a part of the country. This program is a simple account of the day-to-day explorations and activities he carried out alone, and the constant chain of nature's events that kept him company.
Also included is the follow-up program, Alaska: Silence and Solitude. Join nature filmmakers Bob Swerer Sr. and Bob Swerer as they venture into the remote wilderness of Alaska to experience and film the abundant wildlife in the region 25 years later. Along with spectacular Alaskan scenery you will encounter bull moose, caribou, dahl sheep and grizzly bear. You will also meet a man by the name of Dick Proenneke, who has by himself lived in this "one man wilderness" for over 30 years. For those who dream of a true wilderness experience, in the wilds of Alaska, this is the next best thing to being there.
