Do I really need a DewPointe? Isn't my tap
water safe to drink? Tap water contains trace amounts of heavy metals (like lead, mercury and aluminum), carcinogenic chemicals (including chlorine, fluorine, industrial chemicals, and pharmaceutical drugs), agricultural pesticides and pathogenic microorganisms (like E. coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium). Rarely do these levels exceed the EPA’s minimum guidelines, but they are present nonetheless in minute amounts. In most cases, it is impossible to completely re- move these dangerous contaminants from tap water. Thus, the EPA has established “minimum” contamination level standards knowing full well that if a “zero” contamination level were established no city water utility system could remain in business. What we do not know is what the long-term physio- logical side effects will be after drinking such water day after day. Laboratory research indicates that prolonged exposure to many chemicals and com- pounds found in drinking water can build up within the body and its organs and cause severe immune disorders and even cancer. There is some evidence that toxic metals can even cause birth defects. The Impact of Bottled Water Americans consumed 8.8 billion gallons of packaged water in 2007. It took more than 17 million barrels of oil to make the packaging and plastic for this water, not including the energy it took to deliver the bottles to the point of sale. This process produced more than 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide and it wasted more than 327 million gallons of water just to make the water that was bottled. Worse yet, less than 20 percent of the plastic in these bottles was recycled. The remaining 80% wound up in landfills. The DewPointe wastes nothing. Nothing needs to be recycled. After collecting and condensing the free moisture in air, the DewPointe processes the water through powerful carbon and RO filters and UV sterilization lamps. The DewPointe's proprietary 10-stage filtration system completely purifies and cleanses the water before it is stored in the dispensing reservoir. The DewPointe Advantage Is there a water crisis? Water will become a severely limited resource for many regions in the near future. About one-third of the world’s population lives in countries that are experiencing water stress. In Asia, where water has always been regarded as an abundant resource, per capita water availability declined by 40-60% between 1955 and 1990. Projections suggest that most Asian countries will have severe water problems by the year 2025. Historically, most of Africa has been water-poor. Water scarcity is caused by dry climates, drought, desiccation, or water stress. Water scarcity caused by drought has killed over 24,000 people a year since the 1970’s. Today over a billion people do not have access to clean drinking water and by 2025 at least 3 billion people in 90 different countries are expected to face severe water stress. The main problem that causes this is not a shortage of water, but the wasteful and unsustainable use of available water supplies. Tap Water Is Not Safe According to the EPA, more than 30 million U.S families drink water from municipal systems that violate health standards. One recently completed study reveals that pharmaceutical drugs have been detected in the drinking water supplies of 24 major metropolitan areas — from Southern California to Northern New Jersey, from Detroit to Louisville, Kentucky. These drugs include birth control, chemotherapy and hundreds of other pharmaceutical prescriptions that cannot be removed by any municipal or bottled water process. In addition, an estimated 2 million U.S. household water supplies may fail to meet the federal standards and chlorine levels in most municipal water systems exceed the maximum allowable chlorine levels for swimming pools. An Unlimited Supply of Water About 2 percent of the planet’s water is fresh water for drinking and but 1.6 percent of the planet’s water is locked up in the polar ice caps and glaciers. Another 0.36 percent is found underground in aquifers and wells. Only about 0.036 percent of the planet’s total water supply is found in lakes and rivers. STAGE 1: Air Filtration The first electrostatic air filtration stage removes airborne contaminants including bacteria, viruses, dust, pollen, pet dander, mites, fungi and mold spores. STAGE 2: Chilling the Air The airflow through the filter system is rapidly chilled to “dew point”. This is the temperature where water in the air changes from a “gas” to a “liquid”. Even the driest of air contains moisture. The warmer the air, the more moisture it can hold. The humidity in the air can vary, but the Dewpointe® is incredibly efficient in condensing this natural humidity on its specially designed condensing coils. STAGE 3: Extracting Water from the Air Once the Dewpointe® has completed the water “extraction” process out of the air, this water is trapped and then delivered, in a sealed system, to the next filtration processing stage. STAGE 4: Purifying the Water The condensed water then passes through the Dewpointe®’s powerful specialized three-step UV (ultraviolet light) system. This proprietary purifying system effectively kills all the bacteria and viruses that may be in the extracted water. The UV light in the bottom stainless steel reservoir is 4 watts; the UV used in the top stainless steel water reservoir and the UV light used in the dispensing system are 11 watts. STAGE 5: Filtering the Water The water in the Dewpointe® passes through a unique pre-cleansing filter located in the lower stainless steel holding tank. This stainless steel mesh filter contains a combination of activated charcoal and zeolite. Zeolite is a natural microporous solid known as a "molecular sieve”, which refers to its ability to selectively filter out small particles. STAGE 6: Cleansing the Water The water in the Dewpointe® then passes through a five-stage filtration system. The Sediment Filter removes all foreign particles. The Pre-Carbon Block Filters remove all odors and also improve the taste of the water. The zero-waste RO filter removes any salts, heavy metals and organic compounds. Finally, Dewpointe®’s post-carbon filter runs the water through a unique membrane technology that provides unparalleled removal of all contaminates and microorganisms that may not have been trapped in the previous filtrations systems. Dewpointe® Key Features: Microcomputer The unit is fitted with a microcomputer, which ensures proper working of all internal parts, regulates hot or cool water temperature settings, and supervises and controls the functions of individual parts inside the unit. Electronic Sensors Various electronic sensors are attached to the UV lights, heating mechanism and storage tanks. These sensors ensure that all parts are working properly and will warn you should there be a mechanical or performance irregularity. Water Leakage Detector In case of any unexpected water leakage, the machine will automatically stop working and the unit will emit a warning sound and an icon will flash on the display. The Condensing coils The condenser is designed with a FDA approved food-grade coating to prevent any metal pollution and improve water production efficiency. Multi-Stage Filtration System Our dedication to providing high-quality, great tasting water to our consumers is accomplished by a unique multi-stage filtration and water purification system. 1. Electrostatic Air Filter: Removes mirco-fine particles, including pollen, pet dander, dust, mites and microbes. 2. After water has been extracted from the air, the water passes into the unit’s bottom reservoir through a zeolite/activated charcoal filter and a 4-watt UV light. 3. From there the water is pumped to a Nanometer Molecular Sediment Filter that removes ammonia, chlorine residuals, organic compounds, soil particles, dirt, etc. 4. Next the water goes to the Pre-Carbon (coconut hull) Filter I that removes organic compounds, free chlorine, heavy metals, etc. 5. The water moves to the Zero-Waste Reverse Osmosis Membrane filter that removes dangerous pathogens, mineral salts, heavy metals and organic compounds. Unlike other RO systems, our system takes the wastewater and diverts this water back to the bottom holding tank to be reprocessed so that no water is wasted. 6. The water next moves to the Pre-Carbon Filter II (coconut hull) that further removes organic compounds, free chlorine, heavy metals, etc. 7. From there the water moves to the Post-Carbon Filter that removes volatile organic compounds and improves water taste and smell and the water is pumped to the top holding tank. 8. An 11-watt Top Tank UV Sterilization filter minimizes bacteria levels in top tank. 9. Finally, an 11-watt Water Output UV Sterilization filter ensures that clean and safe water is always dispensed from the water faucet. Water Recirculation The Dewpointe®’s patented exclusive technology ensures the constant freshness and purity of the water. Overheat Sensor Overheat sensor offers further protection for your machine. In case the hot water reservoir overheats, the sensor will automatically shut off the heating coils.
