Yes, this is my fourth time to Marty Simon's wilderness survival school and my third time to study wild edible and medicinal plants. Of course Marty keeps picking on me and telling me that maybe I'll eventually learn something so I don't have to come back anymore. The great thing is that this sense of humor of Marty's is one reason I keep coming back. Not only is he probably the most knowledgeable plant person there is, he makes it fun too. I hope that when I get to be 120 like him, I'll know as much (I hope he reads this).
Anyway, I again came away from the plant class with a ton more knowledge. I keep on top of my plant knowledge by walking around looking at the ground far too often. This is actually kind of hard for me. I am the kind of guy that walks with my head up and likes to know what's going on around me. However, with this plant knowledge I've been working so hard on accumulating, sometimes the ground is the most interesting thing around to look at. I am amazed after this last plant class how much more I know. I look around and feel like I know most of the plants that I see and that is a great feeling and a great survival skill to have. As always, I highly recommend Marty Simon's survival school. Continue reading at Dirt Time ...
